Fresh Meadows is a neighborhood in northeast Queens, in New York City, and it was once part of the old Town of Flushing. The Horace Harding Expressway and Auburndale are to the north, Cunningham Park and the Clearview Expressway to the east, the Grand Central Parkway to the south, and Pomonok and Hillcrest to the west. The name goes back to the freshwater springs that fed the wetlands in the hills south and east of old Flushing.

Much of Fresh Meadows was planned as a whole. After World War II, the Fresh Meadows development went up on the grounds of a former golf club: a large apartment complex with its own shopping center on the Horace Harding Expressway, among the first in the country laid out around the car. Union Turnpike is the other main shopping street, with a long row of stores built along with the homes of the Utopia section. Cunningham Park forms the eastern edge, and the old Long Island Motor Parkway nearby is now a walking and biking trail on the Brooklyn-Queens Greenway.

Housing is a mix of apartments and houses. Along with the Fresh Meadows complex there are other apartment developments, such as Meadowlark Gardens. The Utopia section, in the southeast, has colonial and Cape Cod style homes on tree lined streets, built on former farmland along with developments such as Holliswood Homes. Homes differ from one development to the next, so we compare each with sales from its own development or street.

Fresh Meadows has no subway or LIRR station of its own. Local buses run to subway stations in Flushing, Jamaica, and Kew Gardens, express buses along Union Turnpike run to Manhattan, and the Auburndale station on the LIRR's Port Washington Branch is nearby. By car, the Long Island Expressway, the Clearview Expressway, and the Grand Central Parkway are all close at hand.
