Sayville is a hamlet in the Town of Islip, on Long Island's South Shore. Its edges are drawn by water and road: the Great South Bay to the south, Sunrise Highway to the north, Brown Creek to the east, and Greenes Creek to the west.

Main Street is the downtown, with shops and restaurants along it. Sayville is also a ferry town: boats leave for Fire Island from a landing south of the station, including the run to Sailors Haven and the Sunken Forest. The Sayville National Wildlife Refuge sits inland in neighboring West Sayville, and the bay and the creeks give much of Sayville itself a waterfront edge.

Sayville became a summer destination once the railroad arrived, and many grand homes and estates went up in the years that followed. Some still stand, among them Meadow Croft, a historic estate house kept as part of a Suffolk County nature preserve.
