Manhasset is a hamlet in the Town of North Hempstead, on the North Shore of Long Island in Nassau County, and it is the town seat. It sits partly on the southwestern part of the Cow Neck Peninsula, which it shares with Port Washington, along Manhasset Bay. The greater Manhasset area also takes in the villages of Munsey Park, Plandome, and Plandome Heights and parts of Flower Hill, Plandome Manor, and North Hills.

The downtown runs along Plandome Road around the train station, with bakeries, delis, coffee shops, restaurants, and a movie theater, and a small park with a gazebo at its center. North Hempstead Town Hall is on Plandome Road too. Along Northern Boulevard, the stretch known as the Miracle Mile is home to the Americana Manhasset. Town parks include Manhasset Valley Park, near the bay where Manhasset's first commercial center stood, Mary Jane Davies Green, and Whitney Pond Park.

Manhasset is made up of named neighborhoods, among them Bayview, the Strathmores, Shorehaven, Terrace Manor, Manhasset Park, Manhasset Gardens, Norgate, and Spinney Hill. Housing is largely single family, with colonials, Tudors, capes, and ranches, and homes toward Manhasset Bay. Parts of the hamlet are on sewers and parts use cesspools or septic systems, so we check which a house has before we price it, and we compare each house with sales from its own neighborhood.

The Manhasset station, on the LIRR's Port Washington Branch, is right in the downtown on Plandome Road. By car, Northern Boulevard runs through the hamlet, Plandome Road, Community Drive, Searingtown Road, and East Shore Road are the main local roads, and Shelter Rock Road leads south to the Long Island Expressway.
