Patchogue is an incorporated village in the Town of Brookhaven, on Long Island's South Shore. It sits on Patchogue Bay, part of the Great South Bay, and the land here is flat, part of the outwash plain that runs south of the island's glacial hills.

Downtown Patchogue centers on Main Street, with restaurants, shops, and the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, a historic theater the village bought and fully restored. The Patchogue River runs down to the bay, lined with restaurants, marinas, docks, condominiums, and ferry terminals. From there, ferries run to Davis Park and to Watch Hill on Fire Island.

Patchogue's housing mixes older village homes on the streets around downtown with capes, ranches, and colonials further out, plus condominiums and apartments near the river and downtown. The Patchogue station, on the Montauk Branch of the LIRR, sits near the heart of downtown, and some trains on the branch end here. The ferry terminals are within walking distance of it.
