Whitestone is a neighborhood in the northernmost part of Queens, in New York City. The East River is its northern edge, College Point and the Whitestone Expressway are to the west, Flushing is to the south, and Bayside and Francis Lewis Boulevard are to the east. Malba, a section of Whitestone on the river, sits by Powell's Cove.

The name is said to come from the white limestone that once lay along the shore. Whitestone grew quickly once trolley and railroad service reached it, and after the railroad's Whitestone Branch closed during the Great Depression, part of its right of way went into the parkway system that includes the Whitestone Expressway. That is why the neighborhood has highways near the water and no train station of its own. The Bronx-Whitestone Bridge crosses the East River from Whitestone to the Bronx.

Whitestone is mostly residential, with detached and semi-attached houses on its neighborhood streets. Malba was laid out as its own development along the river, and most of its homes are large. A house near the water and a house on an inland street sell differently, so we compare each home with sales that truly match it.

Whitestone has no subway or LIRR station. Most local buses run to the subway at Main Street in Flushing, and express buses run to Manhattan. For the LIRR, riders use a station in a nearby neighborhood, such as Flushing Main Street or Bayside on the Port Washington Branch. By car, the Cross Island Parkway merges into the Whitestone Expressway just before the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, and the Clearview Expressway and the Throgs Neck Bridge are next door in Bayside.
